Couples therapy can be beneficial at various stages of a relationship, not just during periods of crisis. The goal is to create a space where couples can examine their relationship dynamics, understand recurring patterns, and develop mindful and healthy ways of connecting.

Struggles With Communication

Frequent misunderstandings, recurring arguments, the feeling of not being heard, frequent feelings of blame, resentment or difficulty expressing needs and emotions.

Recurring arguments over the same issues, emotional distance, pent-up resentment, or a feeling of being “stuck” in the relationship.

Major life changes, transitional phases, external stress and work, family, or personal difficulties that may have an impact on the relationship.

Situations involving underlying power dynamics, control, or emotional manipulation, resulting in distress and confusion for one or both partners.

My Approach to Couples Therapy

My therapeutic approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In couples therapy, the primary objective is to examine relational dynamics, identify recurring patterns of conflict, and cultivate alter methods of communication and connection.

Therapy isn’t about assigning blame, rather, fostering mutual understanding, respect, and nurturing healthier, more balanced partnerships.

Couples therapy provides a secure environment in which both partners can articulate their thoughts and feelings. My role as a psychologist is to facilitate a neutral, caring and non-judgemental therapeutic environment where each partner feels heard.

The process is tailored to each couple’s specific situation, taking into account their unique history, context, and goals.

I offer couples therapy in both Spanish and  English, via online and in-person sessions. Online therapy allows me to work with couples located in Spain and other European countries, ensuring the same level of quality and depth as in-person sessions.

Working in the couple’s preferred language helps facilitate communication and clearer, more effective emotional expression, as well as addressing conflicts.
